FunAir joins the United States Superyacht Association with premier space in new area of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

FunAir have recently joined the USSA and have the premier space in the new American section of the Superyacht Pavilion. American born FunAir can be found at the entrance to the new American section and opposite the USSA Lounge at booth 801.

The leading superyacht inflatables manufacturer will be showcasing a new lounger design, the popular Climbing Wall and in partnership with Oceanemo, the Sports Utility Yacht, a range of 3D printed replica FunAir products on a mesmerising digital display table.

Having recently launched the all new FunAir Playground and Junior BigAir Blob, FunAir will be meeting with Owners and Captains at FLIBS to get feedback on new products and discuss the next big launch in inflatable yacht toys.

A redesign of a firm family favourite, the FunAir Playground has a slide, climbing frame and leaving off point for a smaller version of the very popular BigAir Blob, which like its big brother has stabilising outriggers that stop it turning in the ocean, and an inflatable stand-off that keeps it in place. Friends and siblings can jump from the playground straight onto the blob and launch their partners into the air.

The Playground can be tethered to the yacht out at anchor, and also works as the perfect accessory for families when it is secured in shallower waters on beach days.

Standing 3.5m tall when inflated, the playground has non-slip material on the steps, comfort grip climbing holds and ultra slick vinyl. This eliminates the need for a coversheet and reduces weight and pack size. The Junior Big Air Blob is also made from commercial grade 1000 denier PVC with FR and UV ratings. Total set up time is just 30 minutes.

Bluewater To Offer Refit Certification at Florida Refit Show

At the Refit Show 2018 Bluewater will offer “Introduction to Yacht Refitting for Yacht Managers, Captains and Crew” seminar series and certification.

Bluewater Crew Training and The Triton have partnered to develop a seminar series for the 2018 Refit Show, January 10-11, 2018, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The two-day “Introduction to Yacht Refitting for Yacht Managers, Captains and Crew” certification program is part of the Refit Show’s conference at the Broward County Convention Center. Industry professionals who complete six of the nine sessions offered will be awarded the new certification by Bluewater Crew Training.

A well-established crew training facility, Bluewater is known for its MCA Master, USCG and RYA Yachtmaster courses in Antibes, Fort Lauderdale and Palma. Bluewater faculty are developing the curriculum for the new certification, which is aimed at improving the skills of captains and crew during yard periods. The Bluewater certification will expand the capabilities and job prospects for those who complete the program. All of Bluewater’s courses are also open to Refit Show attendees who aren’t seeking certification, but who wish to develop their own refit management skills.

“Captains and crew are integral to the refit process in any shipyard,” said Jim Miller, Refit Show director. “Providing them with the communication, management and teamwork skills offered by Bluewater will improve their efficiency, making them more valuable to yacht owners and their representatives.”

Kevin Petrovsky, chief academic officer at Bluewater, said, “The refit process involves a wide variety of expertise and experience that must be well organized and coordinated. This seminar series is designed not only to provide an overview of the process, but to provide practical and tangible guidance at each stage of the process.”

The Bluewater certification seminars available at the Refit Show are: Refit Yards, Legal and Liability Issues for Refits, Trends in Design, Basic Refit Preparation, Teamworking and Communication, Refit Case Studies, Department Responsibilities Before and During Refits, Creating a Refit Planning Guide, and Conflict Resolution.

The 2018 Refit Show will double the size of its exhibit hall and increase its seminar options from 15 to 24. In addition to Bluewater, more educational partners are contributing to the conference program, including American Boatbuilders and Repairers Association, American Boat & Yacht Council, and The Landing School. The Refit Show is also adding more networking events and live product demonstrations.

FunAir Announces Partnership with Sealed Air Repairs Mobile Service Centre for Superyacht Inflatables

As the global leader in manufacturing inflatable yacht toys, FunAir continue to innovate and ahead of the winter season have announced a partnership with Sealed Air Repairs who opened a Florida based mobile service centre for all inflatable yacht toys earlier this year.

SAR has a mobile service centre that will cover the Floridian coastline offering to pick up your toys and make sure they are clean, dry and ready to inflate the fun, before dropping them back to the yacht. For larger jobs and when working on the biggest inflatables Sealed Air Repairs will collect the product and take it back to their headquarters where the toys can be laid out, inspected and worked on in a clean and secure environment.

The service centers offer a great solution for busy charter yachts who don’t have time to fully clean and maintain their toys, or superyachts about to have a refit who want to make sure they are professionally cleaned, dried, packed and stored before yard time.

In this first season SAR have reported that there have been a surprising number of simple maintenance tasks on the books. It seems there are many yachts that have favourite inflatable yacht toys that have sat in storage because they had lost a couple of D rings, or the guide ropes had gone missing. People just didn’t know where to go to get this servicing, parts and maintenance work carried out; but also didn’t want to throw away a product that had given them so much enjoyment.

Cogs4Cancer 1400km endurance ride for cancer research starts today

Help Cogs4Cancer Make it a Million in 2017 – Current total raised €934,331

Today 30 keen amateur cyclists who all work in the superyacht industry will leave Cancer Research UK head quarters in London to ride approximately 1400km over 10 days to Antibes, France in aid of raising funds for both CRUK and local French cancer charities.

The team of superyacht Captains and industry professionals have already raised €229,000 this year with the previous three rides in 2013, 2014 and 2015 raising over €700,000. They plan to #MakeItAMillion in 2017 and with your help, break the €1,000,000 Euro barrier.

As well as supporting the brave riders by donating via the Cogs4Cancer website, you can join the riders on Friday 13th October for the final 60km Tribute Ride from Gréolieres to Antibes, or support the peleton with 10km to go from Port Gallice to the finish line in Port Vauban, Antibes. Port Vauban and the IYCA are gearing up for the arrival of the courageous C4C cyclists who will end their 10 day journey and 1400+ km in the saddle from London to Antibes, on the 13th of October in Port Vauban, Antibes.

Upon arrival at Port Vauban at around 5pm, a Home Coming cocktail will be served in the Bastion St Jaume, and the wonderful Pink Ladies of Gourmet Deliveries will provide a selection of delicious food and drinks. Colgan’s Brewery is also proud to support this open event with a mobile bar; and all money raised at the event will of course go straight to the charity.

Port Vauban who were taken over in January by VAUBAN 21 SAS with shareholders including the Chamber of Commerce, Caisse de Dépôt and Caisse d’Epargne; and over the next 10 years will renew and reclaim Port Vauban as The first Marina in the Mediterranean, and invest an incredible 135 Million Euros to bring Port Vauban and Antibes back to its former glory.

Cogs4Cancer would not be possible without the support of many local Yachting companies based along the Cotes D’Azur. As well as sponsoring the Home Coming Event, Gourmet Deliveries provide sustenance and support for both the riders and support crew throughout the 10 day challenge across England and France; and this year will be feeding over 50 people each day without running water or electricity, often serving lunch at the roadside.

Debbie and Jodi at Marine Medical Antibes are back in the support team again; sharing over 20 years experience and providing an extensive customised medical kit, including defibrillator, oxygen, bandages, splints, medications creams and lotions.

Jodi explained, “Almost everyone has been touched by Cancer in one way or another, and it is great to be in the club of ‘doing something about it’. We have been involved since 2014 providing medical back up during the Ancona-Antibes and Barcelona Antibes rides, we feel honoured to have a role in the C4C charity.

“Being part of this crazy team is a privilege. Every day during the ride there is a situation that will tug at the heartstrings. The wonderful camaraderie amongst the riders and team, never letting anyone get left behind, the encouragement half way up a steep climb, the laughs, the drink and food stops where we all get so well fed and watered and the mandatory joking around at the end of the day makes it very special.”

The riders will also be supported by a team of experienced osteopaths from the European School of Osteopath who will be ‘on hand’ to provide deep tissue treatments and holistic care whenever needed.

Completing the support team, the De Keizer Marine family van will be along for the ride supporting the riders all the way to Antibes. No matter if it’s carrying luggage, helping out, serving drinks, or just giving some moral support. They will also be documenting the journey with their team of photographers. To celebrate this epic challenge and hopefully raising more than a million Euros for cancer research, there will be an end of ride (and end of season) After Party on Saturday October 14th on the roof terrace at The View Restaurant Club in Juan Les Pins. The party kicks off from 8pm till late. There will be a DJ, Contortionist, Magician, male and female Go Go Dancers and lots more fun to be had, all provided by sponsors Square Foot Storage and GF Entertainment.

After Party tickets are limited and €20 in advance (€25 on the door) and you can get them from Geoffreys of London in Antibes, Square Foot Self Storage or from the SuperYacht Management office in Golfe Juan.
