Life After Yachting launch

Life After Yachting – Superyacht Crew Portal

Life After Yachting is the first month-long virtual (and totally free) event to help superyacht crew around the world find success when they are ready to move from onboard to onshore. We are proud to be the marketing machine behind this fantastic new project, both helping to let yacht crew know that there is a range of people ready and willing to offer guidance, and providing free marketing advice for crew looking to start their own business.

This unique 100% virtual experience combines a global online portal for crew to connect with land-based superyacht businesses and interested parties from other luxury industries, a business incubator for entrepreneurial crew supported by the ‘Kraken’s Den’ of industry leaders, talks with internationally acclaimed schools to facilitate the recognition of superyacht qualifications, and a virtual LIVE interactive one-day event.

Created to support crew through what is often a difficult transition from a busy career at sea to finding stable and fulfilling land-based work, Life After Yachting gives superyacht professionals the chance to give back to the crew that have supported them over the years.

Life After Yachting virtual event

Virtual Month-Long Event | 1 – 31 September 2020

During September, captains, crew and businesses can research and qualify each other via the virtual superyacht jobs fair.

The Life After Yachting portal is akin to a professional matchmaking tool that helps crew to find the best onshore connections. From crew looking for onshore work to companies looking to hire the best of the best globally, this platform presents skills and experiences obtained and required. By optimising connections, it enables both crew and companies to secure virtual meetings and online interviews.

Many captains and crew find it hard to transition to a fulfilling onshore role when they are ready to leave life at sea. The superyacht industry is a rewarding yet highly niche sector, which means crew can find it hard to meet new employers who understand the transferable skills set that crew possess.

Life After Yachting will bring together great employers such as shipyards and superyacht services, alongside businesses from alternative luxury sectors who actively want to employ yacht crew, and value the aptitude and experience they can bring to their company.

Life After Yachting Krakens Den

Kraken’s Den business incubator and LAY Support Network

The second element of Life After Yachting was launched to support entrepreneurial crew. Night watches and downtime at sea can give crew the time to think up fantastic business ideas, but shaping those ideas into a successful long-term business is a complex task.

Life After Yachting connects crew with a team of experts who can help to develop those ideas and assist in creating and actioning the perfect business plan and pitch.

During the virtual live event crew will have the opportunity to present their pitch to the ‘Kraken’s Den’ of business advisors, all of whom are proven and successful leaders in yachting.

This years Krakens include, John Courtney, Managing Director of FunAir and Will Faimatea, founder and director of Bond TM joining Life After Yachting founder and start-up expert Titta Uoti-Väisänen, our very own Sarrah Macey leading on superyacht marketing and AnnaMari Lammassaari from SourceRiviera.

During the early stages of this business incubator it became clear that crew also welcome general advice and support, from lifestyle coaching to adapting their finances. The LAY support network was established for all crew looking for a Life After Yachting, with online supporters able and willing to give advice on numerous real-world situations.

Partners and supporters include, John from FunAir, Tony from YACHTNEEDS, Will and Angela from Bond TM, Anna from Anna Petchell Coaching, Emma from Church House Investments, Jessica from WilsonHalligan, Joey from G.U.E.S.T., Susanne from La Roches Hospitality School, Caitlin from ISWAN, Pandora from Art On Yachts, Jesse from Eventilla, Iiro from Tavata Events and our very own Sarrah Macey.

Life After Yachting Virtual Live Event

Virtual LIVE one-day event | 18th September 2020

The third element is a one-day live virtual event on the 18th September where partner companies will each broadcast a 20-minute segment explaining who they are, what they do, and who they are looking to work with. This allows crew to find out more about potential future employers, advisors and the LAY support network.

In the Krakens Den, entrepreneurial crew will showcase their business plans, ideas and pitches and present them to the leaders of yachting.

The Virtual LIVE Event will be broadcast securely via Zoom and live on Superyacht Radio throughout the day and here is the full program.

For the starfish amongst you the third product launching at MYS gives you even more space to sit back and beach out. The FunAir Daybed is a double width inflatable beach lounger that can accommodate couples in love, a hoard of kids or give those who like to sunbathe in style all the space they need to stretch out and starfish.

ENHANCEMENTS PLANNED FOR 59TH ANNUAL FORT LAUDERDALE BOAT SHOW

As the guests arrive at the 59th annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS), an array of changes to form and function will offer a fresh approach to enjoying the largest in-water boat show in the world and an even more successful sales environment for exhibitors.

Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show superyacht on display

One of the most noteworthy changes to the 2018 show, set to take place October 31 to November 4, is the redesign and repositioning of the main entrance several hundred yards to the north end of the Bahia Mar Hotel and Marina property, along Seabreeze Boulevard, just south of the International Swimming Hall of Fame and Marina. The brand new, professionally designed entrance will feature a plaza-like configuration, efficient security and a VIP and exhibitor gate. The previous main entrance will be used for exhibitor move-in, move-out and other show logistics, improving access for both show guests and exhibitors.

“Informa is focused on evaluating the overall show experience and how FLIBS is perceived by people who arrive from many different places and spend time at the show each day,” said Informa U.S. Boat Shows General Manager Andrew Doole. “First impressions are crucial, which is why we are creating a professionally designed, dedicated show entrance with a thoughtful layout and other elements of convenience for guests and exhibitors.”

Varied and easy to obtain food and drinks options are part of the plan, with emphasis on quality and convenience. A new culinary provider will offer fresh, farm-to-plate fruits and vegetables, sustainable seafood, and natural, organic meats through partnerships with purveyors of locally-sourced, organic and sustainable products.

“Wherever you are in the show, and whether you want to grab a cold drink, a snack or a gourmet meal, we want it to be easy and satisfying,” added Doole.

Miami Beach’s Premier Luxury Yacht Show Receives  New Name and Logo

30th Annual Event Rebranded from Yachts Miami Beach to Miami Yacht Show;

Slated for February 15-19 along Collins Avenue

MIAMI, Fla. (November 15, 2017) – The premier in-water luxury yacht exhibition during Miami’s annual boat show week each February has received a new name and look. Formerly Yachts Miami Beach, the annual event is being rebranded as the Miami Yacht Show on Collins Avenue.

Set to take place from February 15-19 in Miami Beach along Collins Avenue across from the legendary Fontainebleau and Eden Roc hotels, the show, now entering its 30th year, attracts a global audience to a spectacular display of yachts and marine products, including more than 500 new and brokerage yachts and a wide array of the latest marine technology and accessories.

Spanning more than a mile along the Indian Creek Waterway from 41st Street to 54th Street, the extraordinary yacht show covers more than 1.2 million square feet of space. In addition to the amazing display of yachts and accessories, the show features floating cocktail lounges, food and live musical entertainment.

“Like all leading global brands, this show is constantly evolving and adapting to best serve its audience,” said Mary Bender, vice president of marketing for Informa, the show’s producer and co-owner. “The new name and logo were designed to follow suit with our portfolio of boat shows. We worked collaboratively with our stakeholders throughout the process and expect the new brand to be well received in the yachting community.”

A new Miami Yacht Show website will debut this fall at MiamiYachtShow.com, along with the launch of Boat Show Market Place, a new online platform designed to allow attendees to more easily plan their visit to the show and schedule appointments with the exhibitors they most want to see. The new site will be fully optimized for mobile browsing.

The new website builds upon improvements introduced at last year’s boat show, including a new physical look and layout that delivered a more interactive and inviting sales experience and environment for guests and exhibitors. Show organizers also introduced a VIP Experience ticket that offers guests who wish to experience the show in celebrity style access to a floating, air-conditioned lounge with a premium open bar, gourmet food, a dedicated concierge to arrange appointments on board yachts and other special experiences.

In addition to its iconic Collins Avenue location, the Miami Yacht Show also includes an invite-only satellite display of superyachts on Watson Island at the Island Gardens Deep Harbour marina, which can accommodate yachts up to 500 feet. Yacht brokers can arrange transportation for clients between the two show locations.

Two different boat shows take place in Miami and Miami Beach during Presidents’ Day weekend in February. Informa manages and produces the Miami Yacht Show on Collins Avenue and co-owns it with the International Yacht Brokers Association. The event runs concurrently with the Miami International Boat Show, which is owned and operated by the National Marine Manufacturers Association.

58th Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show  Receives Buoyant Reviews

Eager crowds experienced an upgraded show and more boats on display – FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (November 14, 2017) – The 58th annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS), the largest in-water boat show in the world, attracted a world-wide audience of approximately 105,000 international buyers, sellers and browsers who came to see the latest that the global boating industry has to offer and to do business in the “Yachting Capital of the World.” Drawing visitors from more than 50 countries, attendance at this year’s event was up 7 percent over 2016.

Buyers had a larger selection to choose from, with an overall increase of 4 percent in the number of boats on display in the water, with a 9 percent jump in new boats under 100 feet and 10 percent growth in the number of brokerage (pre-owned) boats over 100 feet.

“Informa’s investments in the show delivered a superior visitor experience to previous shows,” said Andrew Doole, general manager of Informa, the show’s producer. “Excellent weather, a robust economy, realigned marketing efforts and a huge selection of new product offerings brought energetic crowds to the docks and exhibits daily.”

“We were very pleased with the traffic at this year’s show and the overall feeling of optimism among our brokers and clients when the show concluded,” said Sally Doleski, vice president of marketing for Ocean Alexander. “New docks, clear dock- markings for those trying to find their way through an incredibly large location, and increased variety for food and beverage options all added to the enjoyment of our guests at the show.”
The 58th annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show spans more than three million square feet of exhibit space in-water and on land across seven locations including the Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel & Yachting Center, the Hall of Fame Marina, Las Olas Municipal Marina, Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina, Sails Marina, Hyatt Regency Pier 66 Marina, and the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center.

“It was a tremendous show, with high energy, brisk sales activity and great enthusiasm for our new boats – the 93 Motor Yacht and the 44 Open – as well as all our other yachts,” said Patrick Healey, president and CEO of Viking Yachts. Viking sold 13 boats from 37 to 93 feet at FLIBS. The company’s 15-vessel display drew more visitors than any previous Fort Lauderdale show – more than 7,000 over the five-day event. The New Jersey-based company also announced that a new 68 Convertible will debut at the Miami Yacht Show in February.

Other attractions at this year’s event included Take the Helm on-the-water boat handling classes from Carefree Boat Club, IGFA School of Sportfishing seminars, the Blue Wild dive and marine art show, and Hook The Future kids’ fishing clinics.

“The 2017 clinics were better than ever and drew hundreds of families eager to learn how to catch more fish and have fun doing it together. We can’t wait till next year,” said Hook The Future founder, Capt. Don Dingman.

One of the Windward VIP Club’s attractive benefits was the dedicated concierge team, Delmay and Partners, who worked on behalf of VIP passholders to arrange various services including yacht tours, local dining reservations, private transportation and other conveniences.

“The 2017 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show brought an increase in visits to our displays and enabled us to enter into many strong negotiations and a number of sales,” said Randy Coleman, vice president of sales of Ferretti Group America. “Fort Lauderdale continues to be an important show for Ferretti Group as we see great attendance from our US-based clients as well as an increase in visitors from South America. Our South American dealers were very pleased with the outcome and recognize the importance of attending this show.”

Schiller Water Bike on the ocean with mountains

Schiller Water Bikes will set you free

Schiller Water Bikes combine the simple pleasure of a bike ride with friends and family, and a glorious trip out on the water. Schiller is a water bike above the rest.

Safe and stable in open water; superyacht owners and guests can jump straight on the bike, no training needed. No helmets, no paddles and no limits to exploring any aquatic paradise. It can even go in reverse!

Schiller Water Bike side view

The bike can be assembled in less than 10 minutes and has a compact footprint that will easily fit in most boat holds and cars. It’s also portable by foot from the tender to the beach as it separates into easy to carry pieces.

The original S1 model has an anodised aluminium frame, is equipped with a proprietary drive train and comes with a durable, urethane coated outdrive and white 1100 denier, rugged pontoons. It even has a watertight compartment for drinks and snacks.

Hailed as “the world’s most radically redesigned bicycle” the newer upgraded S1-C is the best water bike in the world. Constructed out of marine grade alloys and stainless steel, it has proprietary propulsion, a high gloss carbon fibre outdrive, integrated handle bar steering and rugged high-pressure, drop-stitch pontoons (slimmer than the original S1) that allow for easy transport, assembly and breakdown. Cruising speed is 4-5 mph and the S1-C can achieve speeds of approximately 10 knots per hour (10 mph / 16Kph) depending on rider ability.

Schiller Bikes was founded on the daring belief that people should be able to bike across a blue planet. Developed with state-of-the-art engineering and design, the Schiller S1-C and S1 are simultaneously revolutionising yachting, water sports and cycling industries, enabling millions of people around the world to have an exhilarating, dynamic and safe biking experience on the water.

This is the next frontier in biking and water sports. One that has no learning curve (or paddles or uncomfortable seating in kayak hulls), and is accessible to all for fun, fitness, touring and adventure on almost any body of water.

With nearly one billion bikes around the globe built for land, Schiller is singularly focused on delivering its customers epic rides, trailblazing voyages and incredible sunset spins on a new aquatic terrain.
