AI and the Superyacht Industry: What It Can Do, What It Can’t, and How We Use It

There is a lot of noise about AI right now. Every agency, every software platform and every marketing consultant seems to have an opinion on it, and most of those opinions tend towards one of two extremes: either AI is going to transform everything overnight, or it is dangerous and serious companies should ignore. Neither is particularly useful if you are trying to run a superyacht business and work out what, if anything, you should actually be doing about it.

Here is a stat that should make you stop and think. 60% of all web searches now end without a website click. AI answers the query before the user ever reaches a website. A further 80% of web users now rely on AI-generated summaries to research and make decisions. If your business is not showing up in those summaries, you are invisible to the majority of your potential clients before they have even started looking.

This is not a future problem. It is happening right now.

At Global Superyacht Marketing we’ve done the research, we’ve tested and retested, and have been using AI tools practically and deliberately for some time. Not because it is fashionable, but because some of it genuinely helps efficiency, and supports us to provide better work for our clients. Here is an honest account of where it earns its place, and where it does not.

Where AI helps

AI is genuinely useful for removing friction from time-consuming tasks. Research that used to take hours, generating initial ideas to pressure-test, drafting first versions of copy to react to rather than start from scratch. It broadens thinking early in a project and speeds up the parts of the work that do not require deep industry knowledge.

It is also increasingly relevant for how your business gets found. AI-powered search tools are changing discovery, and making sure your brand appears in AI-generated answers requires a deliberate approach that goes beyond traditional SEO. We call this GEO, Generative Engine Optimisation. Where SEO was about ranking on a page, GEO is about being the answer. In a world where fewer people click through to websites, the ones who do are more ready to buy. So, the quality of your presence matters more than ever.

Our team are not just GEO experts; we are superyacht GEO experts. Whether we are building a website from scratch, or adapting an existing website for GEO, we do it intimately knowing how the superyacht community think, search and prioritise.

Where it does not

Think of your business as a classic sailing yacht. Adding AI feels like strapping a jet engine to that yacht. Yes, it is faster. But on the wrong heading, you simply arrive at the wrong place sooner.

The superyacht world runs on trust, relationships and reputation built over years. AI cannot write with genuine authority about an industry it has not lived in. It cannot read a room at the Monaco Yacht Show, or know instinctively why a particular USP or story will resonate with a captain but not an owner. That judgement comes from experience, and experience is not something you can prompt your way to.

The goal is not to blindly trust AI to write your content, nor is it to hide from it. It is to be the kind of business that AI confidently recommends, because your content is clear, honest, useful and genuinely expert. Human-first for the people reading it. AI-friendly for the systems summarising it.

What this means for you

If you are wondering whether to start using AI tools in your own business, the honest answer is: some of them, carefully, with a clear sense of what you are trying to achieve. If you would like help thinking that through in the context of your superyacht business specifically, that is exactly what our AI consultancy service is for, and we look forward to talking to you.
